Beverly Hills
Next month, I’m heading out to Los Angeles. My husband is from Bel Air, so I will be visiting his family, and I have some dear friends whom I hope to see as well. Last trip to L.A. my beloved Hotel Bel Air was closed for renovations so we stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Affectionately known as ‘The Pink Palace’, we especially loved the Fountain Coffee Room with it’s famed Don Loper designed banana leaf wallpaper.
Originally established as a private residential community in the early twentieth century, Beverly Hills celebrates its centennial in 2014. In it’s honor, Assouline rereleased In The Spirit of Beverly Hills: 100th Anniversary Edition.

What's New
I’m sure you know about the DVF wrap dress exhibit but just in case check it out. We also love the architecture tour of the Getty.
I love the Beverly Hills Hotel. I’ve stayed there a few times over the years and it’s very special but………The Hotel Bel Air is stunning. My husband and I were in Los Angles last month for my birthday and we went there for brunch on the Sunday. I never realized! I will be staying there for the rest of my life. 🙂 Next year I will be 55 and I will need something to come down from the shock! I’ve already made plans for next year but i’m changing them. Four of five days there should sort me right out! I hope you have a lovely trip.
Who needs Paris in Spring…! Will you be publishing an itinerary…, “dear friends” would like to know….!
“BEV. HILLS or BUST”!
Alas the Bel Air is a shadow of its former self- bought by a chain and redone in generic ‘luxury’. Such a pity.
Please keep us updated on your travel wardrobe! I live in Miami, so I’m always interested in warm weather, casual but put-together outfits.
I second Monica’s request.
My husband and I stayed at the Bel Air two times in February and found it sublime. I had to leave the property to go to the PDC (Pacific Design Center) but my husband was happy to stay put and enjoy the great service , staff and beauty of the hotel! I think the renovation is great. They kept the charm while making it much more modern. This contrasts with the renovation of the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe which, sadly, removed all of the charm.
I will always love the I Love Lucy episode with the Don Loper fashion show!!!!!
The Beverly Hills Hotel is near and dear to my heart! I was married there 8 years ago and spent the summer before and after my wedding living at the hotel. It’s a very special place! I must pick up this book!
