“Palo Alto”

Gia Coppola

© Vogue Paris

There’s a new Coppola in the director’s chair, Gia Coppola, Francis’ granddaughter, and niece of Sofia. Based on stories written by James Franco, Ms. Coppola’s debut feature film, “Palo Alto”, focuses on a bunch of privileged high school kids. April, played by Emma Roberts, is this heroine of the coming-of-age story.

As a mother of two daughters, I have seen all of Emma Roberts’ movies and like her a lot. She will rise into adult roles seamlessly, a feat considering the fate of so many other child stars.
