Cover-up Cont.

Caftans are the ultimate cover-up. Today’s version is more boho than the ones Liz Taylor favored. Two of my favorites– an Emerson Fry in cerulean for beach-to-lunch, and The Row’s orange and beige silk for cocktails on the porch.

  • Would the Emerson one work if you are only 5 ft 2 inches? Models are oh so tall!

  • I finally quit thinking about it and ordered the Emerson one this week (should arrive today). I had been looking at it since you posted about Emerson back in May. I also ordered the swimsuit, but it’s back ordered until the end if this month. Thanks for sharing Preston. Have a great weekend. Alicia

  • Although the photos of the caftans above look very stylish, I somehow can’t bring myself to actually wear one. I can happily wear a short dress, slim pant, or knee short for a summer evening, but I always feel a little moo-moo-ish or like a woman who has lost her figure the second I put a caftan over my head–even though I haven’t!

  • Fear not, you muumuu phobes! I bought one last year after seeing it here (it was on deep discount by then). The one I have is the same print (or very similar), just in different colors. It has hidden fabric-covered elastic ties that pull the garment in at the ribcage. I can’t believe how beautiful and flattering it is. I’ve worn it three times over the winter when I went to Florida on travel and I’m sure I’ll be living in it now that summer has arrived here in DC. I’m 5’6″ and it comes to about four inches above my ankles.
