Kara Walker At The Domino Sugar Factory
Week before last, my art partner-in-crime Lisa grabbed me and a gaggle of kids and we went to the Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to see artist Kara Walker’s installation, A Subtlety, or the Marvelous Sugar Baby. The enormous, sugarcoated “sphinx-turned-mammy” is a powerful and uncomfortable reminder of the sad role black women played in the production of sugar. Only open until July 6th, this is a must-see exhibition.
Our next field trip is to the Whitney to see the Jeff Koons retrospective, stay tuned.

That is absolutely wonderful, I’ve never heard of it, the factory has a brutalist beauty too.
Extraordinary. Certainly, staying tuned for your next art field trip.
