  • I’m warming to the idea. Sorry I didn’t snap up one brunello cucinelli had a couple seasons ago. Think a backpack would be a fun purchase. Jill sander had a really nice streamlined black one.

  • I bought the Stella in black and loved it, very soft. But after 2 months the straps kept coming unbuckled so I returned it (the store sent back to SM). I was disappointed.

  • I have a soft black leather one. I wear it slung over one shoulder, not as a full on backpack.

  • Agree with pinda. Definitely sling over one shoulder !

  • Marc by Marc also makes darling, more youthful backpacks in nylon–our daughter has a knock-out Marc one in an updated tartan which she carries to work in place of a handbag. Very sporty. I love to see college kids on campus with all their gear in their super casual backpacks–such a happy scene! And when our kids arrived home for Thanksgiving, watching them walk up the terminal ramp with their backpacks, plugging along, that’s when I always began to cry. : ) I love anything that speaks to a collegiate life–

  • I don’t find these lady-like fashion backpacks efficient enough! I would rather just carry a bag, and if I need to haul more stuff, use a low-key men’s backpack. The Marc Jacobs ones are good, as well as hipster faves Herschel and Eastpak.

  • I enjoy backpacks…especially for traveling (the Prada’s are great for this) and MOST especially those that you can get into by way of an additional zipper or some kind of opening on the reverse side…so much more user friendly.
Thx to you, Preston, I have just dug out a paprika suede Gucci from the 1980s…very heavy by today’s standards but will be fun to use!
You are a daily inspiration. Lynn

  • I did this trend in the 90s and can’t bring myself to do it again.
