On The Hunt For

A Ladylike Coat

Last fall I was focused on finding the perfect fur and/or shearling (I never did find the shearling, such is life). However, for this fall I want a ladylike coat. I have a number of beloved heavy wool duffels, but now I want something that’s a bit more feminine. This Gucci coat in the fall issue of Porter is beautiful, especially the lovely pale green color. I think there are many to choose from this season. TBC.

  • Ooh, such a pale colour looks luxurious, and a neutral kind of green.
I’m slightly afraid of the dry cleaning bill, but maybe as it’s a shorter length it might not get that grubby rain “splash back” that a longer pale coat does.
    I’m probably kidding myself.

  • Love the pale pink Gucci coat – had the Zara pink coat from last year – good purchase!!! – but I did buy the cashmere double -faced soft beige coat from Max Mara this year – belt looks good but will be great with black boots and a black belt!!!

  • Lovely coat. It’s really a throwback to the ’60s – including the hair and shoes!

  • So beautiful, and funnily enough I just watched the Gucci documentary last night that followed Frida in 2013 just before she had her baby. If you haven’t seen it already, it’s worth watching. She is such an interesting woman and I loved watching the creative process and collaborations.

  • That is a couture silhouette! I could see Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Hepburn, Bridget Bardot, Princess Diana, Condi Rice, and Kate Middleton in this coat (and Preston, too!). All ladylike ladies. The color is extremely sophisticated. Knock out!

  • I really do love those sixties silhouettes, though I think this combo with the shoes work best in editorials or on the runway. In real life, sneakers or boots would be more modern in my opinion !
