It Item

Marni Thanks to a KiC reader who, when I mentioned that my daughter is in college in California and I plan on visiting often, asked if I could consider items for women who live in warmer climates. It’s true that I recommend pieces that suit New York weather, but, I had an “aha” moment when I stumbled upon these Marni sandals. My first thought was that as much as I love them, they are completely impractical for winter in NYC; my second thought, they are perfect for my SoCal readers–Ta da!

  • These are a lovely shape and super practical yet elegant heel height. I have a similar Marni pair in beige/black from a few seasons ago with a golden heel and I adore them! They go with everything.

  • As a life long Angeleno, I can tell you that my tolerance for a big range of temperatures is pretty low. Accordingly, those lovely sandals are still just for summer.

  • Hey! And don’t forget us Floridians too!! We love style too!!!!

  • Life long Angeleno here too. I don’t ever see women in sandals in the Fall/Winter, it’s too cold generally in the mornings and the evenings for sure, and we have to at least look forward to seasonal footwear!
    They’re beautiful though.

  • Hi former New Yorker living in Texas.Even after living here for almost 20 years my mind cannot get used to sandals in the fall/winter it just feels wrong!!!

  • Okay, okay, I tried… BTW these sandals are from Marni fall… I’m thinking of wearing them with black tights here in NYC, I love them that much.

    PrestonSeptember 25th, 2014  9:51 AM

  • For me these are perfect with tights in chillier weather.

  • As a native Angeleno, I have to chime in. I second Kathy’s comments…since we don’t get dramatic changes in weather, I look forward to little tweaks in my wardrobe that go along with the season. It’s a welcome change to wear oxfords, loafers and boots. That being said, they are beautiful sandals…and I love Marni.
I’m curious though, I’ve never worn tights with sandals, how do you prevent your foot from sliding around?

    A Note On StyleSeptember 25th, 2014  1:11 PM

  • I have a similar pair in light camel that I wore all summer. I would wear these in the afternoon until about November, then bring them back out again in April. I would wear them in the evenings (sans tights) with dressy pants all year. I already use your ideas for sweaters, but look for cotton rather than wool. Thanks Preston for looking out for us warm weather readers.

  • another angeleno commenting — think these are a summer look. we wait for the chillier temps so that we can wear the light, winter wardrobes and the boots/shoes we have been collecting. This is not to insult visitors however, it is usually the visitors who go for the sandals and summer wear.

  • They’re great for Australia! Summer is coming.

    JustineSeptember 25th, 2014  7:09 PM

  • Love the shoes…but I just can’t get behind wearing sandals with tights. Nope.

    bisbeeSeptember 26th, 2014  9:33 AM

  • As another Australian reader, this recommendation is much appreciated. We have a long summer, so these are perfect.

    SusanSeptember 26th, 2014  10:21 AM

  • Perfect for women in Scottsdale, Az to wear all year long!

    Lauren GilbardSeptember 28th, 2014  10:36 AM

  • super cute sandals for summer/spring however I have yet to believe tights or socks with sandals are chic under ANY circumstance. Please prove me wrong!

    valerieSeptember 28th, 2014  12:15 PM

  • I love Marni yet these sandals are not for me regardless of weather. I live in Marin County – just over the GG bridge and these are simply too ‘proper’. Chic but earthy would be more appropriate for my West Coast style. But I rarely see our type of lifestyle chic reflected in the blogs. Though I count on Keep it Chic as my touchstone into the NY fashion scene!
