The Original Tan

Dr. Scholls

Resort clothes are coming in, and even though I haven’t wrapped my head around warm-weather wear, I’ve been eyeing tan sandals. I’m thinking of revisiting this ’70s staple, the classic Dr. Scholl’s Original.

  • I remember getting my first pair in red at Hyde’s drug store with my mom in the 70’s. Sadly the physical design has changed dramatically – gone is the bump under the toe making them difficult to keep on. That doesn’t stop me from getting a fresh pair every summer

  • I had so many navy pairs of these in elementary/Jr High. I had no idea they still made them. I’m sad to read the “bump” is gone, but I may have to give them a try!

  • Perfect lazy summertime shoes. To keep them on your feet you had to saunter, not walk. And you couldn’t be in a hurry wearing these.

  • I bought a pair two summers ago, and the design had changed on the footbed, couldn’t keep them on. Maybe they’ve gone back to the original – I love the way they used to be, and still think they’re quite cool.

  • You’ve done it again! These under-rated classics are the new “revivals” following Birkenstock, and your post is the first to highlight them.

  • It looks like the toe bump is intact in the Zappos pics. May have to grab a pair!

  • I never stopped wearing these! I hope they don’t come back “in style” as I don’t want to be seen as trendy, when I have been wearing these since forever. To the ladies who mentioned the toe bump being gone, I’m not sure what they are talking about, as it is still there on the current pairs I have.

  • Have been wearing these off and on for past 10 years; I own in nude and navy. They, much like my dented gold bangles, are style staples in my book. Without fail, everytime I don these at club or beach, I am stopped and queried about their whereabouts…
