Black Honey

Lipstick is not my thing but, there are times when I want a little color. My go-to is Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in Black Honey–it’s more like a tint and the color doesn’t scream ‘big red lips’. I hear that it works with many different skin tones, too.

  • this is the greatest color! I can attest to the all skin tones thing- my mom, aunt and nana all wore this and I do too. if i’m not mistaken, this is their number one selling color for just that reason.

  • I used to wear this color years ago! I’m always looking for a pretty berry lip color and maybe it’s time to revisit this classic. It’s sheer and it may be just the thing for me now that I’m over 50. Thanks Preston!

  • I wore that color for years on and off. I should get some again, it’s really perfect.

  • This has been a “go-to” since I was in high school. I graduated in 1969. There are now several different shades – you should branch out a bit!

  • It was my first lipstick/lipgloss in that color!! I love almost l by Clinique, the natural way to give a touch of colour to the face

  • Like some of your other readers, I was a young lady when Clinique was launched. It was and still is a beautiful line. Clinique is the perfect starting place for every young lady who desires a little sophistication. The price point is very fair. ‘Blackberry’ was one of their original shades and it is lovely on women of all ages and complexions.

  • I haven’t used this product but do use different lipsticks by Aerin ( Lauder) all of the shades are very subtle- a cross between a tint and a lip gloss.

Where I live these are the go to products for busy moms on the run. A little touch of colour, looking pulled together and understated.

  • Ah, I too have used this for years. I am almost out and learned the hard way you cannot buy it in Paris–only in the US! I live in Mexico, so I need to remember to pick some up when I visit the states next. Sigh.

  • Love these. The Chanel Rouge Coco Shine glosses are similar in texture and also good.

  • I’ve used this off and on for years! Not only is it Clinique’s top seller I read recently that it is the #1 selling lipstick of all time. It really does look great on everyone.

  • It is always in my purse.

    PindaJanuary 7th, 2015  4:12 PM

  • Thanks for the reminder! I have that in my purse-going to apply some now. It truly is the best!

  • I used to keep one in my car. It may not always be my favorite shade of the moment, but it always works for a quick touch up.

    JulieJanuary 7th, 2015  6:23 PM

  • It certainly works for almost all tones of light, fair, and medium skin! It remains the only lipstick color I have ever actually finished up.

  • I have also used this color since high school in the earlier 90’s. I still love it. It also works as a great winter blush, it’s similar in color and texture to Tarte “Blush”.

    LisaJanuary 8th, 2015  4:52 PM

  • Wow so many people love this that I am definitely going to try it!

  • I can’t resist commenting. I wore this in high school (late 80s/early 90s) and picked it up again a year or two ago. I love it but at the time I wondered if I was having some sort of crisis and/or trying to recapture my youth. I’m glad to see that it remains a top choice for others, too.

  • I’ve worn Black Honey – off and on – ever since it came out. It’s a lipstick “tint” that ALWAYS works. Good to have on hand.

  • I don’t wear lipstick either! I like the YSL Volupte Gloss in berry, Bite beauty lush lip tint in black currant.
I’m Dying to try the new CHAPSTICK in Merlot! Chapstick finally made a tinted lip balm!!!

  • I also like Red Dhalia by Burt’s Bees. I’m is more berry than red.
