On My Mind

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

A few things in my wardrobe have real staying power, like these three above. I wear cashmere headscarves, Valentino Tango pumps, and Céline hobos so often, they’ve become my signature pieces. After a few winters of beanies, I’ve pulled out my scarves again (remember the one I’m wearing in the very first KiC post?); they feel like old friends.

  • I think we all have “old friends” or firm favourites that we go back to in our wardrobes. For me in winter they are my Hermes Evelyne crossbody bags for everyday, Ann Demeulemeester black ankle boots and Patagonia down jacket/vest. Summer tends to be Lanvin flats, white shirts and white jeans from J Crew.

  • MDS, you inspired this post…

    PrestonJanuary 9th, 2015  10:19 AM

  • Love those headscarves! Maybe it’s me but I don’t see headscarves around in retail stores. Where did you find them? Thanks Preston!

    Mary Lou CurrierJanuary 9th, 2015  11:26 AM

  • I pulled the picture in the post from Pinterest. The scarf I’m wearing in the first KiC post is 20 years old!!

    PrestonJanuary 9th, 2015  11:38 AM

  • Mary Lou, I’ll keep an eye out for them and put them in the shop.

    PrestonJanuary 9th, 2015  12:41 PM

  • Wow, love the jean dress as well. Another classic. Do we know who made this?

    MaliJanuary 9th, 2015  12:41 PM

  • I love the hobo bag, but always resist getting it because it has no closure on the top. Does that bother you or does it work well? Thanks!

    DanaJanuary 9th, 2015  12:56 PM

  • The hobo has a large attached pouch inside that zips, which I like better than a zip top.

    PrestonJanuary 9th, 2015  1:04 PM

  • Preston, did you size up in the Tango pumps? I love them but have a wide toe box and narrow heel, so am a bit wary of their fit. Thank you!

    C.MicholJanuary 9th, 2015  2:28 PM

  • A dachshund would make 4. I love all 3, and have been thinking of the Celine hobo for my spring/summer bag, as I like an open bag too. Does it scratch up easily? I’m always a bit messy and dirty from paint during the day, so need to be able to wipe stuff clean. As for bandanas, I ordered the oversized bandanas on Amazon, and just love them. I have the tangos in cognac, but would love them in black – are you going to put in your shop?

    KathyJanuary 9th, 2015  2:33 PM

  • C.Michol: On an earlier post, she said she did go up 1/2 size. I took that advice and my Tangos fit perfectly. I have a similar foot (wide front, narrow heel).

    LilyJanuary 9th, 2015  11:42 PM

  • Yes, I went up a half size in the Tango. The ankle strap will keep your heel from coming out.

    PrestonJanuary 10th, 2015  6:54 AM

  • Your style is always so chic ! I, too, am in love with everything here ! The scarves, Céline bag and Valentino shoes are classic but oh so modern at the same time, they’d even look amazing paired together !

  • Preston,

Do you know if the denim shirt dress is also Valentino? I’ve been trying to find it online but have been coming up short.

    Jill VredikJanuary 10th, 2015  1:38 PM

  • I think the denim dress might be from Alexa Chung’s new collaboration with AG jeans.

    BeccaJanuary 10th, 2015  5:11 PM

  • Thank you Lily and Preston!

    C.MicholJanuary 10th, 2015  5:18 PM

  • It is Becca, thanks!!
