Window Shopping

Ralph Lauren

Depending on how you look at it, my office is either in a fantastic neighborhood or, a potentially ruinous one. Within a one block radius are a number of the best designer shops. While walking to work yesterday I snapped these pics of some of my favorite spring pieces on display.

I think I may need to try the Ralph Lauren tunic and pants, the Valentino prints this season are beyond gorgeous and, although I’m not a gingham fan, this beige check at Bottega Veneta could convert me.

  • I love a good window shop! The temptation and anguish is when you return for the try on.

  • I love the Ralph Lauren. I have gone in and out of loving him over the years but this looks amazing.

Preston, just wondering how you shoot the Bottega without glare or any window from the outside looking in?

  • I shoot everything with my phone and just got lucky with the Bottega window…

  • Window shopping might be my favorite activity of all (even more than actual shopping !). I find it so inspiring, and next to my place, there is Le Bon Marché, which, like you, can be potentially ruinous as well 🙂

Love the Ralph Lauren look !

  • While vacationing in London in March, I passed by the Alberta Ferretti shop window and stopped dead in my tracks. There was a suede jacket with flowers and fringe, a white sheer dress, the shoes…all amazing. I had to snap a picture with my iPhone, everything in the window was so beautiful.

  • As children, our parents threw us in the station wagon and drove downtown on Thursday evenings to window shop. It was one of the most important educations I could have received. Better than any art class in school or college. Years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting the man who did Ralph Lauren’s windows in NY. He did it all – sewed curtains, created props from paper, painted murals, drawing, hammers, nails, thumb tacks, fabric . . . etc.! He was charming and humble. Clicking and browsing online stores just isn’t the same, and it employs far fewer talented people. I vote yes on the gingham shirt dress look – very Italian.
