The Long White Dress
I know that I’ll never adopt this trend, but I really love a long, white dress.

I love it too. The Peter Weir film Picnic at Hanging Rock has informed my fashion sensibilities since I was about 12. Like you, I probably won’t go there, but I can get that feel from smaller touches…
I vote show some leg in the summer ~ short white dresses are fabulous. Unfortunately, these look a bit like sleeping gowns.
It would be beautiful on you (and almost everyone) in a photo, in the right setting. Hard to walk down the street in one though.
Margaret must be Australian. Anything long and white reminds me of Picnic at Hanging Rock and I start to hear pan flute music. Hanging Rock is on my list of places to visit apparently it is really “mystical”.
I think it looks great in editorial but I’m not going there.
I understand the hesitation, yet I tried and did buy a long white sleeveless dress . So many compliments!! I felt extremely comfortable yet elegant at the same time. Be daring and try!! J McLaughlin has a beautiful one for a great price for starters.
I purchased an Alice and Olivia white sphagetti strap long white dress last summer… Wore it out.. Jean vest over it with wedges or a dressier version with sandals.. ( think you may have to be a bit taller to get full effect)
I’m not sure I can pull off the look, but I also love it.
