Sparkle

A few sparkly pieces that have caught my eye—Maison Margiela resort, Dior pre-fall, and Marc Jacobs resort. Not sure I will actually buy into this trend, but I certainly like it on the runway and in editorial. The silver turtleneck under the sweater vest is super chic and unexpected.

  • A hint of sparkle under a simple look is a perfect update. I have several sequined pieces that haven’t had a place in my wardrobe for some time – welcome back! This I will wear and still be very comfortable in my simple basics
I’m also in “love” with the previous post “A Flash Of Gold” – I have all the pieces and now they are fresh again – can’t wait for fall

  • It can be a great look on young women, on my age, I find it matronly. Maybe gold shoes, but probably not even that.

  • Preston,
The Dior piece reminds me of Nicolas Ghesquiere’s pre-Balenciaga work at Callaghan.

  • Adore the sequin shift (can see it over pants, under a jacket) although with my bust the sweater vest is a non-starter. What caught my eye with it too was the lighting that made the colour change as I tend to like shine that is neither gold/nor silver, but will catch both.
Lovely food for thought, thank you.

  • Kathy, I agree with you. I can see doing shoes or a bag with some sparkle, but not clothing.

Sue, love the “shine” idea…especially with navy or black.

  • I do like a bit of glitz and the layered look is a great take on sparkle- though might be a bit on the warm side!

    That's Not My AgeJune 24th, 2015  8:32 AM

  • It’s a shame that both Kathy and Kim feel that age is against them here. I find that in most cases, it’s the styling that makes or breaks a look rather than the individual pieces themselves.
