Isabel Marant

I have a confession: Once a huge fan, I’ve been off Isabel Marant for a few seasons– since the H&M collaboration. Or more likely, I just needed a break after I bought the entire SS12 line (for the record I still wear every dress, except one). But, I like a lot of the Spring pieces and these Pre-Fall looks are really good, especially the leather wrap skirt.

  • I like the knitted dress. I was put off Isabel Marant when my leather biker jacket rapidly changed colour (going from navy to a patchy grey on the sleeves) just weeks after I’d bought it. I took it back to the shop but they insisted it was fine, saying that’s what happens to leather. I’m not convinced, the dye obviously wasn’t fixed and so I’m not sure I’d buy any Marant merch after this…

    That's Not My AgeJanuary 28th, 2016  4:05 AM

  • I have a few Isavel Marant pieces that I love. A few that I purchased were quick to go to resale as I did not feel comfortable wearing them. I find many feel ” too young” for me or simply not ” my look”. That said, every now and then I find something of hers that’s a wonderful welcome addition to my wardrobe. Don’t like the looks you posted.

  • I think she’s hit her groove again. Some of my favorite things in my wardrobe and some of the quickest resales have been IM – so I have to be careful, as there’s something very seductive in her line, and it all doesn’t work for me. Love the boots in the first photo.

  • I like the knitted dress as well and will definitely keep my eye open for that. She’s been off my radar screen as well. I find her sizing inconsistent and her pieces have just not been “me”.

  • Been following Isabel Marant since she started. In the beginning , her clothes fluctuated greatly in size and quality, depending on where they were made. I think she’s done a great job in developing consistency in this regard. I am an older woman, so I have to choose selectively, but I still manage to find pieces I love and can wear comfortably. A lot I just ignore, too. Not for me; not age appropriate.

  • I like her ads and see things of interest but when I have had the opportunity in person to see the clothes and feel them I did not feel the price (high) matched the quality or was to trendy.

  • I find that I largely buy IM clothes for my summer holidays or I buy her tops. Quality does vary, especially the fabric. For example, her winter collection’s wool sweaters were very itchy. But I do like the clothes you have shown above and it looks like she is entering a slightly more grown up phase. Fingers crossed on the quality.

  • Why not fan any more ?
Was something wrong with the H&M collaboration ?

  • I’ve always been a fan, and always will be, but I agree, it’s almost as if we had seen too much of her lately… That leather skirt is FABULOUS though !

  • i have something of an isabel addiction – although i usually stick with her etoile line as it’s slightly more toned down and accessible. i don’t know if if it’s because her sizing is so inconsistent, or if she doesn’t have much awareness outside of NY and LA, but i almost always buy her stuff on sale.

  • Love the whole ensemble in the first image, killer boots playing off the gray monochrome.
