Yesterday, we went to the county fair to see prize-winning sheep, chickens, and piglets nursing. Draft horses competed in the pulling contest and we ate organic rice bowls from a food truck (it is the Vineyard, after all). Later, we popped into Fiddlehead Farm for a pie (and an Insta pic of the market baskets hanging from the rafters), then we threw swordfish on the grill, and went to the beach for fireworks.
Blessedly, it was cooler last night, which made me realize that summer is in it’s final throes. I’m okay with this and actually excited for fall sweaters and getting my furs out of storage. The Northeast, with it’s change of seasons, reminds me that we are constantly moving forward—it’s all good.
