On The Hunt For

The Peasant Blouse

Admittedly, I am a bit late to the party on this one. My chicest friend Mary, whom I’ve asked to do a Spring Picks guest post, has been going on about the Atlantique Ascoli blouses (top left) for months, and by the time I tuned in, many were sold out. I started searching in earnest after seeing the fab puff-sleeved peasant-inspired tops in the phenomenal SS17 Jacquemus show (top right.) This would be a perfect fall tweak that would carry over into spring, and beyond.

Ascoli blouses here, here, and here.

  • Also, didn’t listen to Mary soon enough, but have managed to snag one in navy – supposed to arrive tonight? I did get another white one though after being convinced by Mary, and so sorry I waited so long.

  • Ugh.

  • I am certainly getting that denim one today , if I can find one in my size. It is way too cute to pass up.

  • I word of warning they run a bit oversized. I bought from Barneys and returned I looked like a line backer w the puff sleeve which I typically love and worship!

  • Oh, obsessed!! Love the Atlantique Ascolis but v expensisive and hard to find in the UK. (Apart from Dover St Market and Netaporter when they have stock.) For SS16, there are some really great affordable ones coming to Toast and Whistles.

  • The navy came and I love it. Now I want the white…..I will hunt. Never not listening to Mary again.

  • If you can’t get Jacquemus or anyone else, Zara might do one.

  • My most prized white blouses, with full sleeves, pleating, tucks, lace, embroidery, or insets, are all from Anne Fontaine. Hoping the brand doesn’t get side tracked with expanded offerings. As my lovely mother would say, “they need to stick to their knitting.”

  • You are too kind. Honestly the cut and material of the AA blouses remind me of the Chloe Phoebe blouse I own. That was a splurge for me ten years ago, but I adore it as much today as the day it arrived. I learned to “enjoy” it with white wide legs, black pants, black mini, jeans, distressed jeans etc. These blouses, although pricey, can serve many purposes and they are fabric artwork – especially the ones that are 80% cotton and 20% linen.

  • Barneys reordered these tops. If you go to their website, pretty much all of them are available in various styles, colors and sizes. Good luck!
