Classic Coach

We have been looking for a bag for my daughter for what feels like forever. She wants to be able to wear it both on her shoulder and cross body and it can’t be too boxy. When I was her age, I carried a Coach bucket in dark chocolate that I would still wear if I’d held on to it. Coach creative director Stuart Vevers has injected some much-needed energy into the soon-to-be 75-year-old brand. Yet, at the same time, I’m happy to see that the house reissued the classic saddle bag. The only problem is, which color?

  • I had a Coach bucket bag too when I was younger. It was so well made and looking back, a classic. I’m sure it would still be in great shape if I’d held on to it. Coach does one of the best shades of cognac/ saddle and the interior details on the reissue are very nice.

  • I think this color!

  • Love the shape and the fact that it can be worn cross body or over the shoulder but I do not care for the contrast stitching.

  • I carried a Coach cognac bucket bag for years. All through college and beyond. I agree that they make one of the most beautiful shades of it around. So I vote for cognac.

  • Love it but wish they made a version without the contrast stitching; a bit trendy of me. After searching a few years for a reasonably priced, simple, well made leather bag, I too realized I should never have parted with my bucket bag. My first investment purchase with my own money from my first job . . . a long time ago! I did just purchase two vintage coach bags at local consignment stores: one black leather and one dark brown leather bag both with simple brass details. Hard to find handbags now this simple and this well made that aren’t major budget breakers. Both can be worn cross body. I picked these up for $40 each (a total steal) and they are in mint condition! My daughter and I share them and both have vowed never to part with them.

  • I parted with several Coach bags in the 90’s to much regret. In it’s day, Coach was every bit the quality of Hermes. Fabulous in its simplicity and colors were all wonderful. It was a Bonnie Cashin product, right? But what young women don’t realize is that we used to have a lot of quality lines, all at excellent price points. Not cheap, but certainly not something only affordable to the one percent. I can close my eyes and smell my Coach bags from the 70’s! : )

  • I was looking at these last week – really like the olive/khaki green.

  • I love these – the cognac or burgundy are lovely. I bought one of the saddle bags that was part of the 1941 Reissue Line – it is beautifully made, very unlike what Coach has been putting out for years.

  • Just last week, sorting through boxes I found my Coach bucket bag from high school. It felt so perfect, I have been carrying it all week. The leather is soft and the patina is that of my favorite saddle. Even the tartan lining looks on point. have been wearing it as a crossbody. My daughter-in -law wanted to know where I bought it.

  • This is a great shape- I’ve had a similar bag (Chloe) for a few years that I pull out every summer.
