On My Mind

March To-Do List

March = spring break and this year we are doing college tours. I’ve already booked a hotel in Boston for the first leg of the trip and we will stay with family for the second leg.

Before we get on the road, I’m eager to see the Julian Schnabel exhibition at Pace Gallery, which features paintings of the garden at Auvers-sur-oise, France. The two books that I’ll tuck into my suitcase are Joan Didion’s “South and West: From a Notebook”  and “The Drifter” by my one-time Harper’s Bazaar colleague, Christine Lennon. And to try some new recipes–my husband made this cod casserole last night–it was unusual and delicious.

  • I love Schnabel’s paintings and this rose pair look incredible. Both books look great and can you please post a link for the recipe?

  • XV Beacon is so lovely, especially in this oddly frigid weather! Since the restarurant was renovated and modernized a number of years ago, it’s become a terrific spot to have coffee or cocktails before heading out four campus tours, shopping (what there is of it here!), dining, etc.

  • Can’t wait to read The Drifter. Go, Christine!

  • Thank you so much, Preston! Joan Didion is my hero, so I am honored just to be in the same suitcase. Enjoy your trip XX

  • Had to giggle at “unusual and delicious “. I just read about the Joan Didion novel and have it on my March break list because I have a silly thing I do when I fly: read Joan Didion! Her words make time disappear. Will definitely check out the other novel as well , thank you.

  • I haven’t stayed at XV Beacon which looks lovely, but I have enjoyed Mooo. Have a great trip. Boston is one of my favorite destinations. My son lives there in the North End- wonderful Italian cuisine.
