On My Mind

April To-Do List

Top of my April to-do list is the Irving Penn exhibition at the Met. I worked with Mr. Penn often when I was at Vogue, an honor to say the least. The Whitney Biennial is up, but with spring break, I have yet to go. Date night drinks at the recently opened Whitby Hotel sounds fun. And readying the garden (just herbs this year) and tucking into Elizabeth Strout’s new book, which will be released April 25, are also on my list.

  • Coming to NY in June and want to have drinks at the Whitby too. I also can’t wait for Elizabeth Strout’s new book and have been driving my local bookstore nuts with asking for advance copies etc., which sometimes they can get. Except for a few zucchini plants, we got the garden all ready this year. Why only herbs for you?

  • Our raspberry and strawberry plants have run their course and would need to be replaced. Decided to just do herbs this year for the bees.

  • Part of what distinguishes Irving Penn’s work are the models and the period. Just look how dignified, intelligent, and elegant they are! Such a 360 from what we have in magazines and on the streets today. (Feeling down, as I just came home from several days of travel. Worse than ever!).
Preston, plant rhubarb! It requires less than a full day sun, pays back big dividends + stunning foliage and color amidst boxwood, holly, tucked in anywhere!

  • Ooh definitely something to look forward to: a new Elizabeth Strout book and an Irving Penn exhibition. Need to check how long the exhibition is on at the Met…
