Double Coat Love

Yesterday I posted on tucking a vest under a coat and I often wear a trim puffer under a duffel. Again, it’s about layering to stay warm, although this may be more of a fashion trend.

  • Seems a bit impractical to me–too much to keep track of!

  • Love the look with that denim jacket buttoned over the tan coat. I am so copying that!

  • Too much bulk and weight! Prefer the fur vest and/or Uniqlo Heattech undervest instead.

  • Great for models and fashion photography, but for us mere mortals the look may not work so well. Love the idea of a fur vest underneath a lighter coat/jacket.

  • Tracy, I am with you. I instantly liked the denim jacket worn sort of like a cape. However, I’m not sure I’d wear it over another coat, just like the styling. The silhouette the top image creates seems on point and would be easy to do with a couple loosely structured trench coats.

  • A vest under a coat looks great, a vest over a jacket looks great but coat over coat is just too much bulk for me. I am inspired by that denim and khaki pic, I’ll figure out how to wear that today.

  • Love the look of the denim over the trench, but what’s up with the bag she’s carrying in the top photo? Is that a cross-body that is too high because of the bulk of the double coats? It’s enough to ruin the effect, in my opinion.

  • thin puffers layered under wool coats have saved us from the unholy choice between looking ridiculous or freezing elegantly. I’m a fan.
