Fave rerun

Let it Snow, Again!

As the blizzard hammers away I thought I’d rerun the very first kic post. Eight years later and I still live in the same sweatshirt, Levis, and cashmere kerchief—the headscarf is 30 years old, talk about a forever item.

I love my new mink sweatshirt from Pologeorgis and wear it everywhere.  Nick Pologeorgis and Jenny Roberts were very patient with me as I debated a poncho vs. a sweatshirt. The poncho is easy, you just slip it over your head, however, the sweatshirt is shorter and thus a better length on me. I have even mastered zipping it up the back without help. I know we are all dreaming of sandals and summer dresses but, it’s still winter and here in the Northeast we have masses of snow. At least I feel chic as I contemplate shoveling the walk…

Pologeorgis Furs is located in New York City at 143 West 29th Street, 8th Floor or call 212.563.2250.

  • My 30 year old mink coat lives in one of my adult sons’ former bedroom closet. I commented to my husband on our daily walk, in cold for us, 39 degree South Florida, there was nothing ever that kept me as warm as that coat did in NYC winters. The shoulders are super 80’s and it grazes the floor so I may just have it made into a sweatshirt–what a chic idea!

  • What a great first post, and you look so chic of course. I have my mother’s full length mink and a poncho is a great idea for LA where it does get colder than you think.

  • My mom just gave me her full length mink very much in the style that Karen describes…very 80s with extreme shoulder pads. I can’t imagine ever wearing it in its current style, but a sweatshirt is a chic possibility. Thanks for rerunning this post. Timely for me!

  • So great to see such a timeless and timely post. We are snowed under here in Ontario which is normal. I count on beautiful fur scarves from Charlotte Simone, my latest being a huge Mongolian shawl/scarf with pockets! and pieces I’ve bought from Harricana Mariouche. It’s a small company based in Montreal and Quebec (started by a woman) who make amazing things from repurposed furs. Their website doesn’t do them justice so if you’re ever in Montreal you should check out the retail store.

  • I’ve repurposed a number of furs from my mother. My favorite is a muff (really, a muff…) that I turned into a short scarf. I get compliments on it all the time.

  • Love this look. While cooped up during BomboGenesis I bought a lilac faux fur Fenty sweatshirt (on sale!). This pic confirms I made the right decision. Might even give the kerchief/headscarf a whirl. Congrats on your anniversary.

  • Congrats on 8 years of fabulous posts! We missed most of the snow, it’s just very, very cold.

I’m a big head wrap fan, it’s the chicest way to tame an Afro that I know. The cashmere scarf seems like a good addition to my wardrobe.
    Cheers and stay warm.
