Coat Tales
So far, there have been a plethora of great coats in the PF18 collections—real keepers. Maria Grazia Chiuri, inspired this season by Claude Cahun, did some of the best for Christian Dior.
Chloé designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi’s sophomore collection included these two forever coats.
And Louise Trotter’s Pre-Fall collection for Joseph is packed with great coats. Love the weekend bag, too.

What's New
These coats are winners, but the Vogue-linked slide show for Dior ’18 is dreadful. It’s full of stunning pieces worn by models who look miserable, angry, militant, and joyless; and the clothing outshines them all! Imagine a life which affords dressing in all this Dior and then marching out the door in such a funk as these poor creatures! Shouldn’t wearing Dior put at least a partial smile on their faces? And how to sell such expensive clothes with an ad campaign that says, “look, you can be angry just like these women!!” ?
That may have been the goal of the Dior staff–to highlight the clothes by making the models look less attractive?
A coat will be an item I’m looking to replace for 2018 and so happy to see such great choices already.
