Hedi Slimane to Céline

Hedi Slimane was named artistic, creative, and image director of Céline. The designer will start February 1 and expand the brand to include couture, menswear, and fragrance. Thank you, LVMH.

Now, let’s see where the brilliant Phoebe Philo ends up. I hope it’s her own label.

  • This is exciting news! I loved him at Saint Laurent.

  • I remember the tidal wave of our (mostly negative) comments and discussion on here when he went to YSL and I was one of the people who had to eat my words. This time I shall be excited!

  • So more skinny fit jeans YET AGAIN!!!!

  • Oh but my Phoebe! I love the Slimane. But Phoebe’s shapes, colors – where will we find her?

  • I love most of what he did at Saint Laurent, though I was hoping to see a continuation of a woman’s POV at Céline. Can’t wait to see how this plays out!

  • I confess I liked his stuff at YSL – but it was mostly derivative – styling more than creating. Great eternal basics… but?
And the guy seems toxic. Just deeply unlikeable and arrogant.

  • No thanks.
Just don’t like his look and what he produced for YSL.
That is the end of Celine for me.

  • Agree w/Celeste.

  • I’m not in a position to comment on Mr. Slimane, I am completely turned off by YSL’s recent print ad campaigns. I found them out of line and unappealing to the point I have refused to purchase anything YSL. Maybe he will bring an entirely new angle.
