The Concho Belt Comeback

When I spied a concho belt on the Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini runway and then another one in the March issue of Vogue Paris, I pulled out mine above.

My sister went to boarding school in Arizona in the ’70s and every time we’d visit her my mother would buy a few pieces of Native American jewelry. I benefitted from these shopping sprees and cherish this Navajo concho belt circa 1880.  Ebay has many.

  • I just came across mine tucked deep in a closet and almost took it out to give to my daughter. Glad I hung on to it, I might need it!

  • I went to college in AZ in the late 70’s. I, too, have all my treasured jewelry and belts. I have one western belt with my name carved in the back… don’t think that one is going to make a comeback!

  • Down to the basement I go in search of my mothers conch. Maybe some silver and turquoise cuffs for summer as well?
