Cool Collaboration

CTJ x Pallas

A few weeks ago Claire Thomson-Jonville (top left), editor in chief of Self Service Magazine, posted on Instagram that she is collaborating with the Parisian label Pallas and used the hashtag #lesmoking.  The resulting capsule collection launches in June and Ms. Thomson-Jonville spoke with Vogue’s Mark Holgate about her inspiration for the line. From the three images above, they look like classic wardrobe staples.

  • The clothes look beautiful, but I wish they’d styled them not with white tennis shoes with the trousers puddling around them, because I find them glaring in this context. I prefer trousers that are ankle length and with a loafer or flat. But, I agree, it looks like a great collection.

  • Funny, I immediately loved the suits but, like Kathy, found the shoes and hems jarring too. I know they are not intended to be worn only in this way, but for me, it affects my ability to really zero in on something when it’s shown with shoes I can’t relate to even a little. The red on the top right model is stunning! Most importantly, I’m loving this return to daytime dressing.

  • Along the lines of Kathy’s comment, the clothes are classic. I like the use of the tennis shoes, but I was surprised, as I thought that” look” was waning. The overly long pants, is this just a look for magazine images? I always see this in magazines, but rarely in real life. Who buys beautiful trousers to wipe up the floors with them? I like a little slouch, like in two of the images, but the red trousers leave me wondering “why”.

  • Pallas is one of my most favorite brands for anything but especially their smoking. I have a classic black but this new collection is amazing and I have my eye on the grey check which looks a bit like a classic Prince of Wales or windowpane check. Beautiful.
