Black Belt

A few days after I gave my Gucci “GG” belt to my daughter, my friend Karima, editor of A Note on Style, posted on the new Givenchy GV3. After four years I’m looking to update my black belt with something a bit more understated.

Belts above: Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, and Givenchy.

  • All incredible choices! It’s true that even classid black leather belts need updating.

  • Thanks Preston. The Givenchy belt arrived earlier this week and I’ve already worn it with a pair of off-white jeans and a shirt dress. The refined buckle felt both sporty and elegant, plus I love its vintage vibe. Now, I’m deciding if I should consign or store my GG belt…

  • Preston, I would love to hear your thoughts regarding the classic H reversible Hermes belt? Do you think their width is still good (I recall one width, more or less medium)? I am looking for a new black belt as well!
    Happy Easter!

  • Beware that belts with a black interior may mark the pant fabric. The Givenchy belt is perfection!

  • I have the St. Laurent black belt with the gold buckle for trousers, but for jeans, I am liking my GG belts more and more. I have a weird tendency to like these just as they’re going out of style.

  • The Givenchy is a good alternative to Gucci – I like all the belts you’ve picked out. I’m still wearing a simple black leather APC belt I bought about 10 years ago. Might splash out on a new one…
