On The Hunt For

New Jeans

The heat wave finally broke and now, especially in the evening, it’s jeans and sweater weather.  A longtime Frame fan, I’ve decided to step out of my wheelhouse and try other brands. So, I turned to my denim spirit animal, Spanish lawyer-turned-fashion consultant Barbara Martelo. The length and fit of these by Khaite (and here) and Re/Done are just how I like ’em.

  • I did the same thing today. It’s cooled off in the PNW and I’ve been wanting a new pair of jeans. I’m thoroughly fed up with the “destroyed” legging jeans, and fell in mad love with a 70s-esque trouser leg – the Alexa by 7 For All Mankind ( They’ll be perfect with a tucked-in turtleneck sweater, or with a blazer and platform sandals.

  • Hi Preston,
You read my mind – I’ve been on the hunt for new jeans too. Love the style references you posted above. Which Re/Done style/cut would you recommend?

  • I’m a big fan of Goldsign jeans right now.

  • I bought my first pair of Redone jeans last spring, and I loved them so much that I bought another pair in white for summer. I always get compliments on them!

  • I love cropped jeans – they go brilliantly with flat sandals and ankle boots.

  • After years of expensive jeans, I just bought a pair from Madewell, which is what my daughter wears. They are fairly classic cut – waist high, slim leg, fairly dark wash. My summer jeans are all cropped 2″ above my ankle and some are fringed. That hem, like the black jeans above, made sense with sandals all summer. But what do you think the hem length should be for fall/winter – a hem that will be good with loafers, an ankle boot, and a block heel pump? Still cropped? Somewhat longer?
