Beauty

After I posted on the false eyelashes trend, I pulled out a Marc Jacobs mascara and applied a liberal coating. Instantly, I looked more awake and realized that a small beauty tweak could make a huge difference. Now I’ve noticed that lining the lower lid is gaining momentum and I’m going to give it a try.

I don’t have tremendous eyes…but for years, I’ve been lining the bottom waterline. Lining the upper lid tends to close in my eyes. Using a waterproof pencil is easy and has become second nature. If I leave it off, I look washed out and sleepy!
I had to stop wearing mascara/eyeliner due to allergies (my eyes are constantly tearing up) but have discovered using powder highlighter as eyeshdow works well to silhouette my lashes and make them more noticeable (I do have dark lashes, so that helps). The powder highlighter is subtler than a nude shimmer shadow, but that would probably work too.
As I’ve gotten older, it seems like I’ve lost my “touch” at how to do my makeup. I think it’s time for a good lesson somewhere. I don’t like too much, but nothing just washes me out.
I love eyeliner! Pencil is my go to. I don’t have the skills with the other types. I am a little rusty on the waterline area. Must watch a you-tube tutorial.
In another life I was a makeup artist and still wouldn’t leave the house without eye makeup if you paid me. Some good no nonsense people with YouTube videos re mature makeup are Hannah Martin and Pixi Woo’s Nic and Sam Chapman. Hannah was a Bobbi Brown pro for years and Nic has a great video doing makeup for her mother.
With my hooded eyes, I can’t live without eyeliner! I prefer a pencil format as it’s easier to apply. Thin lines on the top and bottom for day. And for evenings I use Charlotte Tilbury’s Color Chameleon with a thicker line and more sparkle.
Count me in for a makeup tutorial! I’ve been basically doing the same thing with variations on the same products for a v e r y long time . . . Laura Mercier makes a lovely tinted moisturizer which I wear daily.
Having teenage daughters who, I’m afraid to say, have watched those YouTube videos more often than I like, are very helpful on this front, especially with the contour techniques.
