On My Mind

Rise and Shine

Now that we are officially in 2019 I’ve been musing about last year. 2018 came in like a lion and, thankfully, went out like a lamb. If you’re into numerology, 2019 is a 3 and it’s supposed to be filled with fun, creativity, and happiness — I’m already feeling upbeat.

An end of December post highlighted some items that I bought last year — all black basics (a black coat and bag, too), which pretty much sums up my state of mind in 2018.  So, when I spied this picture in January Vogue Germany, I started craving a little pizzazz in my wardrobe. A few years ago I had my eye on a pair of gold Jimmy Choo pumps. In the end, I didn’t think they’d go the distance and back they went. Now I’m sorry that I returned them — they’d be just as good today, possibly even better. Live and learn. Maybe these Chanel Mary Janes could remedy that mistake.

  • I love a good silver shoe, especially a belle flat Roger Vivier.

  • Look at the Chanel silver espadrilles….I bought them anticipating how fun they will be with white jeans (and tan ankles) !

  • I bought those gold Jimmy Choo pumps after I saw them in your post and have worn them over and over. I may need to splurge on these Chanel Mary Janes too! Thanks for the continued inspiration.

  • I think you’re right. I love a low heeled metallic Mary Jane

  • On my daily commute, those silver Mary Janes in the Chanel window caught my eye. Fun and practical.

  • The silver is beautiful. I’d also love your thinking on what jeans feel right now. Thank you and happy new year!

  • Shiny shoes just speak to me! They are a great neutral.

  • Those are lovely! I have shiny silver loafers that seem to go with just about everything.

  • I bought some elaborately embellished Miu Miu heels for the holidays. I wore them with a really pared down black jumpsuit for holiday get togethers. My daughter loved them, but I’m still not sure if I should just not have gone there. Wish I had a fashion stylist I could FaceTime for those dilemmas.

  • Go for it! I love metallics in limited amounts.. I have metallic shoes and sandals in silver, gold, amd rose gold. Also pewter metallic boots. My gold YSL sandals are a classic. The Chanel silver Mary Janes are likely to be a classic also.

  • Definitely a classic! Somehow I talked my mother into a smocked-bodice baby doll style dress in silver ‘low shine metallic’ for a 9th grade “Christmas Ball’” and wore silver metallic Mary Janes, which had a low block heel. I’ll never remember my escort but will never, ever forget that snazzy dress and shoes! Buy them without delay – who wouldn’t feel happy wearing those shoes?! Happiness in the New Year!

  • How do you get these crystal clear images from the magazine? And if it is the digital version, they often size it so you can’t get the whole image. Thanks!
