When Virginie Viard took her bow in a patch pocketed jacket from her debut collection for Chanel, I let out a sigh — this is precisely how I’d like to wear the new pieces. Seeing a designer in her own clothes gives me a sense of how to wear them in the real world — think Phoebe Philo with a sweater wrapped around her waist or the flawless Miuccia Prada in the final moment of each of her shows. Forget the campaigns, this is how I want to see them styled.
Bravo. Absolutely agree.
You’re right, Preston. I remember a few years ago seeing Phoebe Philo at the end of a show in her sneakers, and thinking I could do that.
I totally agree, Preston. I’ve always loved Ms. Prada’s outfits and have copied them many times, but now with Virigine at the helm of Chanel, I am even more inspired. It was a brilliant idea for the Wertheimers to keep her on board as Creative Director because she’s a woman and will know how we want to dress, especially when she dresses in such an accessible manner. Her look is timeless and ageless, which will draw even more women to buy their RTW now- if that’s even possible.
I want to know what jeans she has on. And the BOOTS- definitely need those.
You are so absolutely right!
Absolutely agree, too. Virginie Viard’s outfit was my favourite. I am busy working out how to replicate it at a non Chanel price point.
Agree. I’m much more interested in seeing how women/designers wear clothes in real life, rather than ad campaigns and catwalks.
