Crew Cut

I’m a crewneck sweater nut. For years I’ve scoured the boys and mens departments and have amassed quite the collection. Both Celine and A.P.C. x Suzanne Koller have crewneck sweaters in their FW19 collections. But, for a lightweight lambswool sweater that’s perfect for a chilly summer evening, I buy these (and go down a size).

  • I love crewneck sweaters (and the classic cotton t-shirt versions in short sleeve). I’ve had great success at Ralph Lauren this past Spring – found a black and an oatmeal color cashmere crewneck sweater that I wore nonstop during a cool European city tour. I also love to find crewnecks at the Ralph Lauren Children’s store on Madison (at least last time I was in NY it was there, complete with perfect Christmas decorations), because the color selection is different than adult versions. RL doesn’t get a lot of press lately, but I think their quality has improved, especially in the upper labels.

  • I love crewnecks but in cashmere or merino. Lambswool is too itchy even with a t-shirt underneath.

  • Love crewnecks! I hit your Celine link and went down a rabbit trail of trying to find that Celine tan hobo! Curious what size you have?

  • Paula, half of my sweaters are from Ralph Lauren boys department. Agreed, the quality has improved.

  • I bought a few merino crew necks at Uniqlo this past winter and love them. They’re very thin (and I’m always hot!) and pack down to nothing. I hadn’t thought to keep them out but they would be great with shorts, it’s been a very cool start the summer.

  • Thanks for the Woolovers recommendation. I have been wondering about their products.
