Fave Rerun: ‘Welcome to the Jungle’
Great fashion stories seem few and far between these days so I thought I’d rerun a favorite. This WSJ. Magazine editorial ran April 23, 2018.
Just when I was thinking that there is nothing that I want for summer, up pops this amazing story in the WSJ. Magazine. Carolyn Murphy + photographer Lachlan Bailey + stylist Geraldine Saglio = dream team. Guadeloupe as a location isn’t too terrible, either.

Love this! I am so tired of all the ruffles and dresses that look like you are going out for sorority rush in the 80’s. Why can’t I find any simple cotton dresses?
Gorgeous! The sandals are amazing – do you know who makes them?
Carolyn Murphy remains one of my all-time favorites! Beautiful.
The sandals are Jil Sander, I’m looking for them.
Love! I’m wondering about the pants (jeans?) in the third photo. Do you know who makes them?
The pants are by Isabel Marant Ètoile
Oh, Preston! This story is wonderful. This is my dream summer wardrobe.
Love love love this post. Thank you
Jennifer’s comment is hilarious and spot on! For understated day dresses, Peserico. Cottons, no frills, perfect Italian tailoring, decent pricing. I purchased no fewer than 7 pieces from their SS19 trunk show: a tailored stone color pant, a khaki ‘dirndl’ skirt and jacket, two cotton tees, a pink cotton waisted shirt dress, and one sheath style dress with an overlay and a little embellishment for parties, weddings, etc. For Pre-Fall, they are offering slim, classic flat front pants in wool, subtle plaids. Perfect day time and casual evening alternative to jeans. The loafers Preston featured would be nice with them.
“Sorority rush in the 80’s”! Hilarious observation but I also despair of seeing anything in a dress other than little house on the prairie dirndl. I do love the resurgence of some 90’s trends (slip dresses and skirts) because it sends me down the rabbit hole of old Jil Sander and Helmut Lang shows.
I’m so happy to hear someone else is having a hard time finding simple cotton dresses for the summer. Seem so simple…
