Labor Day Weekend Wear

Wow, the final weekend of summer. It’s cool this morning as we pack up to head home — thank goodness for my collection of cable knit cardigans “borrowed” from Mother, they go over everything. This Holiday Boileau dress went everywhere and I’m reluctant to shelve it. Actually, I bought so much from Holiday (their shipping policy and communications are maddening) that I’m going to Paris to do returns and exchanges. Kendall Conrad’s pouch is the perfect size — I tie the straps together and wear it over my shoulder when I want to be hands-free.  And enamel jewelry is back on my radar in a big way.

Holiday Boileau dress, Kendall Conrad pouch, Kathryn Bentley ring, Celine cardigan, Adidas Samba (fit is narrow).

  • Are you really going to Paris to return and exchange? Does the site not work in the US? The dresses are so chic.

  • I missed out on the Holiday Boileau tunic dress in my size (gr!) but have a few other pieces of theirs that I really like. The styling in their lookbooks is great—I’ve adopted several ideas. (As for your trip, if you haven’t been to their Parisian café I recommend it—simple yet chic with lovely drinks and food.)

  • I’d like to order a pair of sambas. Would you suggest going 1/2 size up, or…?

  • Hi Maggie, I have a number of things on my Paris to-do list so I put the Holiday returns together to take with me. I ordered A LOT – dresses, skirts, tees, bikinis, windbreakers – and in multiple sizes… paid a small fortune in shipping, but love everything.

  • Have the best trip! Will you be there for fashion week? Do you not recommend ordering from the site lest I have to deal with a potential return?

  • I am an expat in Paris. Internet shopping has not been perfected yet but it is improving. For your trip, I recommend Officine Generale. Their clothes are available at Le Bon Marche and their shop in the 6th.

  • Did you check out their pop up shop last year at La Garconne? It was a collection of sweaters, tees, jeans and sweatshirts.

  • I missed it, sadly. Next time I’ll be there because their shipping costs are significant and the sizes are hard to predict — tees are enormous and skirts are tiny.
