To Give

I don’t try to reinvent the wheel every year with hostess gifts, but I do change up a few items. This holiday season my uber stylish friends will get a copy of an indie magazine that’s tailored to their interests. Candles,  maple syrup, olive oil, anything by Bastide, and mittens are easy to stockpile and have at the ready for last minute invitations. And paper whites, topiaries, and pies are always appreciated.

  • Thanks for the great ideas. Always good to have a few gifts on hand for unexpected drop ins, etc. To my gift list, I just added this wonderful heel glaze ( Farmhouse Fresh honey heel glaze)
    For $26 ( on amazon) it’s something most people don’t have and would use!! I live the brush that comes with it!! Would love to see your readers suggestions for great inexpensive holiday gifts!!!

  • I love the magazine idea! I love mittens myself too! I will miss the ones from Barneys. COS had good ones too that are padded. I was buying things like this all weekend for gifts! I bought Marvis toothpaste, the toothpaste squeezer and coco floss from Anthropologie. I also purchased Fresh bath products and Goop jarred facials too. My friends love the Herban Essential wipes because I always have them on the subway to fight germs and they smell great. The last things were a deck of Fredericks and Mae playing cards with the rainbow matches. Everything was 20 to 30% off until tomorrow.

  • All lovely gifts to give and receive. Another thing I do is to give a small donation to a charity or cause that I know they’ll support, something like Oxfam. For me, I’d rather have mosquito netting for 10 children’s beds rather than another scented candle. Something to think about…..

  • ASPCA is our charity of choice and we ‘gift’ donations on our friends’ behalf.
