FW20 NYFW

And They’re Off

I didn’t have high hopes for NYFW, happily Tom Ford proved me wrong. Okay, so he’s chairman of the CFDA and showed in LA — let’s remember that it’s the Council of Fashion Designers of America, not New York, and cut him some slack. Anything that revitalizes American fashion is good by me. His look above is so chic I can’t stand it — I will wear that skirt forever.

Platforms are back — they were in Rachel Comey’s collection (on a model over 50…) below, too — green with grey socks is such a good combo. The Partow dress below is perfection.

  • We wore socks (white anklets) with platform open-toe and and heel platform shoes in the very early 80’s– to go with our flowery midi dresses, I think. What a memory!

  • I love that skirt also! Not sure about socks with platforms but socks are making a comeback. Have you seen the come si socks? They are so cute!!

  • So glad he came back from London. We need his talent here. Can’t believe I spaced on NYFW. Times seems to fly faster and faster.

  • I love platform shoes since I am short. Marc Jacobs will have a great show too! I feel it. Jenna Lyons had on an awesome coat from him on her IG and it’s got to be Fall 2020.

  • TF’s skirt is reminiscent of his Fall 2001 YSL peasant top which I still have and love. Has it been almost 20 years already?! Platforms will always be a mainstay for me, that goes for ballet flats as well. Preston love your blog.

  • I can’t begin to think about fall until I find something to wear to our daughter’s May wedding! Toughest shopping in my life! : ))

  • That TF skirt is fab – and I don’t wear skirts!

    That's Not My AgeFebruary 9th, 2020  8:09 AM

  • I can relate to Paula ! I did the mom of the bride/groom dress search in ’16 and ’18 and spent the same amount on alterations to get the right fit. Its a big process, but worth it! I never thought of the grey/green color combination before, but I think I love it.
