Ring Me Up

I miss having a reason to put on jewelry, especially my everyday rings. Just wearing them around the house or to the market seems silly.  At least my earrings come out for virtual meetings.

  • Agreed. I miss jewelry too. I was just telling my mother last night at dinner I haven’t put my wedding rings on since mid-March. Every morning I put on one of my pairs of Dior Tribal earrings. I never take off my Roberto Coin tiny diamond cross but that’s it for Pandemic jewelry choices…

  • I miss having a reason to wear jewelry! (maybe it’s the same thing)

  • This post resonates with me. I literally took out all my jewelry yesterday and played with it. I think an aesthetic person needs to be in contact tact with the things that move and or inspire them.

  • I so agree.

  • Funny, I’ve gone the other way. I’ve been wearing jewelry every day and been pulling out pieces I don’t usually wear to see how to incorporate them. It‘a been creative, fun and reminds me that I get to choose how I feel everyday, even when things are difficult.

  • I agree with you. We went to visit at a distance a family member and I put on jewelry but it did not feel the same as it did pre virus. I do miss wearing rings.

  • I have been wearing my rings and watch, but no bracelets or necklaces, and i wear earrings only for video calls. I have been longingly eying gold jewelry online and in magazines though…

  • I’ve been putting on and taking off rings, because at least I can see them. Nothing else though as I have no Zoom meetings.

  • Great pics!
I do it for me, somehow it makes me feel better.

  • This experience has been an interesting experiment in how much I dress for myself versus for others. At first I sunk into an extremely casual wardrobe and it took about four weeks for me to crave something nicer. The first thing I pulled out were fancy flat sandals and my thoughts are turning to a pair of gold bracelets next, just to please myself.

  • I haven’t worn earrings (or any other jewellery) for eight weeks. I feel like my face has lost some of its sparkle! I think I even put my earrings on a week after giving birth to each of my children.

  • I wear silver hoops daily…small but I don’t recognize myself without. I did buy a colorful bracelet early in March, but have yet to wear it. My birthday was yesterday, and I am ordering a ring I’ve been wanting for a while…mixed silver and gold. I hope to be able to wear it to go out sometime…in the meantime, I’ve worn a wire-thin band instead of any other rings. Don’t even feel it, but it’s something on plain unmanicured hands.

  • I’ve taken to changing for dinner: long skirt in a luxe fabric, crisp shirt, flat slides and some gorgeous earrings. Simple, but it elevates the mood.

  • I wear my jewelry daily. Even when I’m not at work. I don’t believe in jewelry for special occasions only. My Mother wore her jewelry daily too.

  • I’ve been dressing for dinner, too, including simple jewelry. Since I’ve been walking thrice daily, it’s a lot of changing of clothes, but I love my Spring/summer clothes and am dedicated to enjoying them. I wear a gold knot earring or diamond stud earring, my wedding bands, a signet ring, and lipstick every day – home or away. Better than jewelry, I have a hair appointment on the 21st – hallelujah!!

  • I also wore no jewelry except my wedding band, tiny cross necklace, and watch for weeks. Especially with all the extra washing (not just increased hand washing, but also all the household cleaning since we are paying our cleaning lady to stay home and be safe), wearing rings seemed impractical. Then one day, I put on a gold bracelet and seeing it glint on my wrist brightened my day. Wearing my engagement ring again after months without it brought me renewed appreciation of a ring I’ve had for two decades. All of my jewelry has meaning to me (largely gifts from loved ones) and brings me joy, so I’m now wearing it and enjoying doing so. I also put on my usual bit of makeup in the mornings, and since I started ironing our shirts, we all look crisper and feel more like ourselves. Sometimes, jewelry can feel like a talisman-a reminder of being loved -in addition to being an object of beauty, so I do tend to wear mine and am glad to be back in the habit. I’ve also been on the lookout for a chunky gold (domed, maybe) ring, and I see a pretty one in the picture.
