Linn Hägglund Inspired (again)

This Bottega Veneta PF19 jacket was in the kic shop for months, yet I never tried it. Then I spied it on Linn Hägglund, whose style I admire immensely, and decided to call it in. The bouclé gives the jacket a soft, cardigan look and I could see myself wearing it three seasons.

  • Really? I bought the skirt and it was huge and stiff as a board.

  • It was? Did you keep it?

    PrestonMay 14th, 2020  6:20 PM

  • I just went back to the original post, and it’s still fantastic!

  • No, I sent it back. It wasn’t good. It was lined with some hard material backing to help it keep its shape. I bought a 38 because that was the smallest size. They didn’t make a 36 or 34. The jacket doesn’t look lined so it must be nicer.

  • I bought it from your first post NAP had to send my size from Hong Kong . . . I was so excited but it had none of the softness I associate with boucle . As Traciy said above it was stiff as a board ! I returned it . I would still love a white boucle jacket !

  • The jacket was also large and stiff. I didn’t bother sizing down because I didn’t think it would be comfortable to wear. It was very pretty though!

  • Thank you everyone for your thoughtful critiques, very helpful.

  • I have to agree with Jennifer – the jacket was stiff as a board! So many pieces look fantastic on models but are disappointing in person!

  • Perhaps composition of the “boucle” jacket fabric made it stiff? Excellent quality boucle should be mainly natural wool, alpaca wool blended with silk, cashmere and some other fabrics. BV jacket is 63% acrylic, 8% polyester, 3% polyamide and only 22 wool with traces of silk…It’s plastic so it’s stiff. Looks good but can’t imagine wear something like this.

  • I appreciated Isabel’s fact checking and she has busted Bottega Veneta. Boucle is a particular weave of wool. Acrylic is among the cheapest of materials and Bottega Veneta has falsely represented their product by calling it boucle. For the kind of money they are charging for this jacket, it’s a joke. In the 80’s, unlined boucle jackets – Austrian (Geiger) – were treasured. The colors were gorgeous, because natural wool dyes so beautifully. Acrylic won’t clean well, and it likely won’t hold up well.

  • I can’t get past how enormous it is. Going back.

    PrestonMay 19th, 2020  5:47 AM

  • Dear Paula, it was obviously not my intention to do it, I personally like BV but this what they are (and were) famous for: leather. Whatever I buy my first step is checking out the label and composition of the fabric. I know Tyrolyean Geiger (happens that my second home is Vienna in Austria). I have a couple of boucle jackets which were made out of Italian fabrics and some of them are 100% natural fabrics only, some 90-95%. This makes them soft. We hear so much about plastic free choices and it’s very sad that now plastic migrated from water bottles or other things to our clothes…Kind regards!

  • I love the jeans
