To Do Today

Even though I posted on J. Courtney Sullivan’s new book Friends and Strangers in March, it’s out today and I cannot wait to start it. I’m serving watermelon margaritas this weekend and will do a dry run tonight. And, this picture of Geraldine Saglio in the Holiday Boileau campaign inspired me to mix things up a bit. I pulled out my HB daisy skirt and a striped top and they look great together — I don’t always have to be so matchy-matchy…

  • I’m picking up my copy today – was on pre-order at my local bookstore. Recipe for watermelon margarita please…

  • Preston, love the unexpected styling of your daisy skirt and striped tee! Many thanks for your great blog. Let us know how the margaritas are!

  • Ah, that explains it. My local bookstore called last week to let me know my copy (of Friends and Strangers) had arrived. I had forgotten I’d ordered it, but must have done so at your suggestion. I’m now almost done, and have really enjoyed it, so thank you for the recommendation. I saw the picture of you in the adorable daisy skirt yesterday and have been wanting one ever since. Thank you for all your good tips.

  • I’m 48 and in dood shape. What’s your thought on women over 40 wearing shorter skirts? I tried on a short denim skirt and wasn’t sure I should wear it.

  • I’m 58 and wear them all the time — I’m wearing the daisy skirt here. Probably not the best role model, but there you have it.

  • Hi Preston,

I love the photo of you in your short skirt and mask. Thanks for promoting both. I think you ARE the best role model for short skirts. I wear them all summer because they are so comfortable. And, really, if we work hard to take care of ourselves and stay in shape, why not? Who’s judging?

  • Short skirts and dresses of all lengths are my summer favorites! Golf skirts work great for power walks and coffee shop runs – EP of NY makes great skorts. Add sneaks or comfort sandals and I can wear them throughout the day!
P.S. First hand report from Paris: Petite Bateau in children’s sizes available in Paris (18 ans fits me), kiosks of hand sanitizer on the streets, and masks are worn inside shops only. Who knows??!!
