The Longline Sweater Continued

I ordered a grey longline sweater from an earlier post, but I’m not sure the boxy shape suits me. The Viviane slit-front sweater by Joseph, worn by Vogue Ukraine’s Julie Pelipas in 2018 above, is winging it’s way here. To be continued.

Grey and Navy.

  • Ooh, just saw this on Matchesfashion but was worried about the depth of the slit, not sure it would be practical for me. I may ride your (sweater) coat tails and wait for your recon.

  • Love it. But don’t you have to be tall?

  • Must report back with a pic please!

  • I love this look, but it sadly doesn’t make sense for me in LA. Please wear it and enjoy! It’s a lot of sleeve. I like how Julie wears them rolled up to control some of the volume.

  • I agree. I’ve really tried to rock the longline sweater and somehow, I always feel like I’m in my fanciest bathrobe. However, this style I feel like I might be able to rock. Waiting to see how you’re styling it Preston!

  • I bought the Viviane from Joseph last year and I love it but….it’s LONG! (I’m only 5’5″) I’ve never had a knit altered and figure that would cost more than the piece itself.
I wear it as Julie Pelipas does, with sleeves rolled up and over all black – a fave is a black jersey culotte and top underneath, worn with sleek flats or slides, channeling Pelipas again. Hair pulled back is good too.
Also over jeans occasionally – with a straight leg, to the ankle. I love it, even if it is too long – hope you do too!

  • I had a lovely knit sweater/dress by Jacquemus shortened by a very good tailor – good success. I was also hesitant to alter a designer piece and was concerned about inadvertently changing its proportions, but was pleased with the result and wound up wearing the item a lot more than before, when I tried to adjust myself to it vs. the other way around. The ticket is in finding an excellent tailor! Unless you are a pro, this is not a DIY job.

  • I have been wanting this since your 2018 post and recently bought the navy one. As described by others, it is very long. I’m 5’3″ and it comes down to my ankles and it’s quite large, but I love it! I’ve worn it over leather leggings and a simple silk charmeuse tank, usually in black but also dove grey and ivory variations. I’ve been wearing it with old Clergerie and Celine flatforms and it’s perfect. Thanks for posting on this again which reminded me to order it!
