On My Mind

Summer’s End

This year, Labor Day is as late as it can be. It was nice to have an extra week of summer, yet the days are noticeably shorter and cooler. It was an amorphous summer; time was unmarked by the usual trips and family get-togethers. Memorable, none the less.

I hope everyone is well,
xp

  • And in LA – real summer just beginning. Huge heat wave this weekend. We had an unusually cold summer so it’ll be a very hot fall.

  • Sorry to say it but here in Lewes Delaware, we have always experienced an enormous seasonal influx, But especially since Hurricane Sandy and even more so with the Covid crisis. I and many others welcome the end of Summer. We are all ready for and energetic and, might I say, spiritual respite.

  • A rather humid, hot summer in CT. I’m always glad when it ends, in spite of how much I welcomed it. September is glorious usually, so its the icing on the cake for me. Grateful to live in this wonderful land, regardless of current situations. Life is good. Looking forward to fall and the holiday season…

  • April’s expression of gratitude has made my day! In a time of nonstop grievance, it’s a breath of fresh air. We celebrated this traditional summer weekend with grilled ribs, sweet corn, garden tomatoes + basil, fresh peach crisp (thank you, dear daughter), and French white Burgundy! Add the dog, our dear family and friends, the flag flying at our door, a little swim . . . all simple pleasures. Life is good. Thank you, April. Wishing everyone peace and joy.

  • Circling back to share a bumper sticker I spotted today, which seems particularly timely:

    Wag more, bark less

    I see a hashtag campaign in this. : ))
