  • Finally bought a pair of Grenson Nanette boots similar to above and could not recommend them more highly. Great tread, comfortable and light as a feather. Still pondering the belting of coats but tweaks are always good.

  • I’ve worn “hiking” boots as shoes for years. I’m currently wearing Grenson black Nanette’s, which I bought last year. Agree with SueM about their comfort. They do look great with a camel coat…the juxtaposition is perfect.

  • SueM, I think they are Grenson boots above.

  • I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of hiking/combat boots and the Grenson Nanette may be just the ticket for a lightweight, wearable style! Is there any preference for the platform versus the standard tread sole?

  • I bought a couple of belts big enough to fit over coats in Montana over Thanksgiving. Nice additions to my belt collection. A western and a hunting one.

  • Fabulous tweaks! Over the course of the past four years, our beautiful First Lady has sported belted coats, belted dresses, and belts with pants, all with personal style! I recall Mme. Macron also wore a high waisted coat during their visit. It has been a fabulously fashionable time, and it’s simply sad that the fashion press couldn’t bear to look. There’s nothing chic or gracious about spitefulness. Not to mention it’s unkind . . . : )))

  • Paula, I could not agree with you more. Your words are perfectly said. Preston, thank you for the always beautiful, inspiring posts. They have been most welcome during this very strange year. xo

  • The fashion press wisely steered away from featuring Melania’s fashion choices due to her poorly chosen public statements. Her very ugly “I don’t care” coat didn’t escape comment.

  • When Melania Trump wore her infamous Zara jacket “I don’t care, do you?” to visit refugee children at the border, she wouldn’t discuss with the fashion press why she chose that particular jacket for an official visit.
She has chosen to be private (for better and for worse) and rarely grants any interviews. She’s a beautiful woman, who wears very expensive and often inappropriate clothing during one of the worst years this country has ever been through. A First Ladies clothing is expected to send a message…and her message has been clear.

  • For Cat – I have the standard tread and I think they give enough cushion and height. I think the platform tread may be “too clunky?”

  • Looking for a camel coat like the one above for a more casual look. any suggestions? Was about to buy the Max Mara Manuela but I’m not sure…

  • I also had the gold rings idea, Preston. I recently purchased some from Kinn Studio. I had a goal to buy from female owned small business this year and Kinn fits the bill. I am going to try belting my coats. Also a small tweak that can make a big difference.

  • Love this! Linked the boots because they’re so cute…

  • Sorry here’s the correct link for the JLo Tannah Booties!
