February Elle

‘Shelter From The Storm’

I’m snowed in (2 feet, at least) and would love nothing more than to be strolling the banks of the Seine. Even overcast, Paris is beautiful in this story from February Elle. A Saint Laurent or Alexandre Vauther trench and Celine jacket are perfection — anything but a giant puffer…

  • The yearning this creates in my battered old heart.
Please don’t mention puffers: I have one I bought at Ogilvies in Montreal at least 10 years ago, some obscure Swiss brand, that is still beautiful and warm but knee length. Thought I would buy a longer one, saw one from AllSaints, cool design, giant pockets, perfect I thought. It weighs a bloody ton! Gets my heart rate up by the end of my street. Shall forever be known as the cardiac coat.

  • That is too funny! Best laugh I’ve had in far too long…

  • No problem. I can hardly wait for the litanies of “you should have bought Uniqlo….or Lands End, or…ad nauseam.

    SueMFebruary 2nd, 2021  3:24 PM

  • I bought 10 of the Uniqlo lightweight parkas and gave them as Christmas presents (kept 4) Just sayin’

  • +1 on the Uniqlo puffers 🙂 The longest one hits my ankles and is my favorite. Although seeing as I’ve gained the COVID-19 maybe I should look into AllSaints… I need a cardiac/cardio coat. Has anyone tried the Bala Bangles? I am considering for my daily treadmill time.

  • Honestly, I should have known better. Seriously. However, this is the only forum that will know the truth. As far as my sisters are concerned I LOVE that coat.

    SueMFebruary 2nd, 2021  3:34 PM

  • Dear SueM
Thank you for the much needed laughter

  • Even if we gained weight during the pandemic, after wearing puffers for months, we will all suddenly look much thinner wearing trench coats!

  • The 2nd photo, are you able to provide the designer details of each piece? I’m loving the jeans and jacket!!!

    JillVFebruary 3rd, 2021  12:33 PM

  • It’s all Celine

    PrestonFebruary 3rd, 2021  12:54 PM

  • It’s all wonderful! I happen to have visited Paris in February ‘19 and it was delightful! A fantastic time to go!
When it’s truly cold, I’ll wear anything to keep warm!! I can relate to the giant puffer story! : ))

  • I have been in Paris in November and in January when it was wet and cold. I could have used a giant puffer but this long ago before they became common. What I would have given for a warm cozy puffer!

  • I wear the Uniqlo collarless snap front jackets as cardigans
the collarless vests too . When I traveled I always had both a vest and a jacket in my carry on – even when I was going to St Barth !
I bought a long oversized quilted coat from The Frankie Shop just 3 weeks ago and I love it . Not heavy at all .

  • Oops just saw the coat from The Frankie Shop is sold out – the brand is Rodebjer and they have it on their own website in yellow !
