Lipstick is not my thing but, there are times when I want a little color. My go-to is Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in Black Honey–it’s more like a tint and the color doesn’t scream ‘big red lips’. I hear that it works with many different skin tones, too.

It would be amazing if my Annick Goutal perfume came in a solid, then I could carry it in my bag. I’m going to test drive these by Diptyque, they are so practical. The scented oval would be great in a closet.
I was chatting with Caroline of Pardon My Obsession last evening and had to cut it short because I’m super stressed-out (sorry Caroline). A snowstorm the day before Thanksgiving is throwing me off my game. I’ve changed my daughter’s flight from L.A. (no easy feat this time of year), and we are all moving into the Waldorf for a night. Ironically, I’ve bought everything for Thanksgiving dinner, which proves I’m not completely losing it.
When all is said and done, I’m going to kick back and try a “rescue me” facial mask—recommendations welcome.
Beauty website Into The Gloss founder Emily Weiss has launched a line of products called Glossier. After all the beauty product testing Weiss has done in the four years of helming ITG, I’m sure her own line will be effective. The packaging is really good too.
So many chic women have listed L’Oréal True Match as their beauty secret, I had to try it. The biggest problem was finding the right shade in the terrible pharmacy lighting. But I did, and love it. And you can’t beat the drug store price.
Every time I say I’m going to find a new perfume, I try one or two, then stick with my trusty Annick Goutal scent. But this time I’m determined to find another one that I love as much, something a bit more sophisticated.
First up will be Bottega Veneta’s Knot fragrance. Lavendar, clementine, rose, peony–meant to evoke the Italian Riviera–sounds good to me.
Lashes are my beauty focus this fall and an eyelash curler is my new BFF. Love that this one from Charlotte Tilbury is gold-tone. Now I need to find the perfect mascara– any recommendations?
The brightly-colored lipstick renaissance was not my thing, and thankfully it seems to be on the wane, but statement lashes are a beauty trend I’d try, especially for evening. Along with the fab 60’s fashions on the fall runways came dramatic, often clumpy, lashes. I’ve been studying the makeup in this story from the fall issue of Porter and may need a tutorial to achieve the look. I cannot even remember when I last applied mascara to my bottom lashes, this should be fun.

In The New York Times
When I go to Paris it’s usually for work and I don’t have time to browse in a French pharmacy. I’ll pop in to pick up my tried-and-true products but, I don’t seek out new ones.
This weekend, The New York Times ran a cheat sheet of the best beauty trophies to bring home. Now, I just need to book a flight.
I’m a liquid eyeliner convert, and this one by Eyeko + Alexa Chung goes on smoothly, you just need a steady hand. A bit dramatic, it’s perfect for evening. I wasn’t on the hunt for an eyeliner, it was included in The Summer Kit , a box of travel-sized beauty products, from Net-a-Porter.
