Alyson Walsh’s Favorite White Jeans

Alyson Walsh White Jeans post

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Eighth up, editor of the fab site That’s Not My Age and author of the soon-to-be released Know Your Style, Alyson Walsh:

“Engaging in a little DIY action over a long Bank Holiday weekend, I took a pair of scissors and lopped a couple of inches off a pair of old Gap flared jeans (the Long and Lean style). To be perfectly honest, I resisted the kick flare/boot crop/whatever trend for quite sometime; when you’re tall, it just looks like your trousers don’t fit. Which is all a bit too ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin,’ for my liking. Anyhow. I finally succumbed to ankle-flapping fashion last year and have been wearing these Gap jeans ever since – my Acne ‘Hep’ white jeans haven’t had a look in.  This cropped style looks good in summer with flat sandals and a shirt, swap for Gucci loafers and a sweater now that it’s cooler. This old APC knit belongs to my partner Paul (Mr TNMA)-  guess that makes it a proper boyfriend sweater.

P.S. after every few washes I give the frayed hems a trim, otherwise the DIY kick flare jeans get themselves into a bit of a tangle. ” Alyson

Jennifer Ash Rudick’s Favorite White Jeans

Jennifer in Southampton with her daughter Emmy.

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Seventh up, Out East author and Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker Jennifer Ash Rudick:

“Having grown up in Florida, my relationship with white jeans has been long and sometimes sordid. Some had stamina, including basic Levis that saw me through a summer internship at The Norton Museum. Others were poorly thought out, chosen on impulse to fulfill too particular a craving that never translated beyond their circumstance – extremely wide-leg sailor pants purchased in Normandy, France, following an afternoon involving Calvados comes to mind. Throughout the years, I’ve professed ever-lasting love to Lee, Wrangler, Citizens of Humanity, J. Brand, and Helmut Lang. I’ve committed to and eventually grown weary of hip-huggers, high-rise, straight-leg, peg-leg, and super-skinny styles. It was me, not them.

Last Spring, I swore off white jeans for good, buying two overpriced dresses for summer publication parties while on a trip with childhood friends who related to the white pant addiction, “try something more inspired,” they confirmed.” The night of the first book signing, as I slipped on a dress, my husband said, with discernable enthusiasm, “no white jeans for a change?” At that moment, I felt estranged from myself, like an imposter. I retreated to my closet where a brand-new pair of Mother jeans were hidden – just in case.” Jennifer

Shirin von Wulffen’s Favorite White Jeans

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Sixth up, Bastide co-founder Shirin von Wulffen:

“These are my favorite white Chanel jeans that I found years ago in a vintage store in St Tropez and always thought they were a bit short. Then I got pregnant and they did not fit me for about 4 years so I almost tossed them. Now they are back in my life and I am suddenly loving the cropped thing and high waist.” Shirin

Blazé Milano

The Blazé Milano motto, “Every cool girl is half boy” succinctly sums up the founders’ vision for their blazers. Corrada Rodriguez D’Acri, Delfina Pinardi, and Sole Torlonia—Elle Italia alums—launched their line in 2014 and have been gaining traction and fans ever since. The focus on details, especially the smiley pocket and piping, is the game changer that makes these blazers stand out.

Agnes Baddoo’s Favorite White Jeans

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Fifth up LA and NYC-based handbag designer, Agnes Baddoo:

“I love sailor pants for the flattering feminine fit in the waist and the breezy, wide but straight, leg. Worn grazing just below the ankle, hovering above the foot, they look great with flats like these Moroccan babou by my friend Mariko, a heeled espadrille, or sandals. My pants are vintage, a similar pair are the Jesse Kamm sailor pants in Salt.” Agnes

Mary Watson’s Favorite White Jeans

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Fourth up Midwest-based mom of three boys, Mary Watson:

“These RL white jeans are my favorites for this holiday. I prefer boy/straight cut or men’s—the same with my raw APC’s, they suit me. I am in love with white selvedge—RL, The Row, and Levi’s 501 made in USA are the best!

I collect flags and just got a Kate Schelter watercolor of one this week”. Mary

“A 70s Summer In the Hamptons”

In the summer of 1972, artist Jonas Mekas was hired by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to teach her children photography and filmmaking. The resulting pictures, taken at the Warhol estate in Montauk, N.Y., which Lee Radziwill rented for the season, captured “languid summer days in the Hamptons.” An exhibition of Mr. Merkas’ photographs from this period just opened at the Boo-Hooray Summer Rental Gallery in Montauk.

Kendall Conrad’s Favorite White Jeans

Kendall Conrad White Jeans

I’m on the hunt for new white jeans and asked a few of my uber stylish friends to weigh in with their favorites. Third up, accessories designer Kendall Conrad:

“White jeans are a go to staple all year round for me as I live in California.

I wear them either high/low with my SANDALS or very high stilettos. A pullover sweater or a t-shirt and blazer always work well. Or a button down men’s shirt when it’s hot out with one of my BELTS.

I am very particular about them. I like flared, boyfriend, bootcut, and skinny but never too tight. I don’t like high rise or slashes or appliqués for me-I like to keep it simple.” Kendall

Three of KC’s favorites: Citizens of Humanity bootcut, FRAME Le Garcon, Current/Elliott skinny.
