My friend and fellow blogger Caroline, author of the aptly named site Pardon My Obsession, is très chic. A medical student in Paris, I’m inspired by her refined-with-a-twist style. It’s all about the mix—Caroline’s classic Chanel bags look great paired with oversized sweaters and sneakers, and I love that she wears her Hermès Kelly with the shoulder strap, feels modern.
One of the benefits of being self employed is, when it’s grey and dreary, I can just go to the movies. I saw While We’re Young yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Naomi Watts is my new favorite actress.
Opening on Friday, The Clouds of Sils Maria, which got great reviews.

Ooh, this looks good.
I just put the new novel by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Anne Tyler, on my Kindle. I’ve read most of her books and loved them all.

Sites I Like
My old friend and Harper’s Bazaar colleague J.J. Martin has launched a fab vintage shopping site. La Double J sells one-of-a-kind vintage jewelry and clothing all showcased on J.J.’s uber chic Milan-based friends. My favorite profile features Swedish-born illustrator Liselotte Watkins at home with her adorable Dachshund.
However, the very best section of the site is the Legendary Ladies of Milan, do not miss it.

I’m a HUGE football fan and the Patriots are my team (hey, I grew up in Boston). Last night’s Super Bowl was amazing, the best in years. So, to honor their win, I thought I’d run this gorgeous British Vogue cover of Mrs. Brady.
The fabulous British singer Clare Maguire performed at the Burberry men’s show—a must-watch video.

A well-intentioned friend gave us new year’s cards with fortunes inside. Mine read “You couldn’t be less interesting, but you’re going to keep trying, right?”. Huh?
I’ve been thinking about that fortune (a lot). The upshot is that it’s encouraged me to consider a wider range of women for KiC—women I find interesting, not just for their personal style. The Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola who was profiled in the WSJ this weekend is a good example. I’m fascinated by what she does, how she works, and what inspires her. It’s raining and I may pop in “Paris, Texas”, or pull out Proust for a reread.
Perhaps these interesting women will rub off on me (just kidding)! This is why I stopped reading my horoscope…
