Coco or Carolyn?

Are you a Coco or a Carolyn? If it weren’t for Love Story, minimalism—and the clumsy phrase “quiet luxury”—would be in the rearview. Matthieu Blazy’s debut Chanel collection has just landed in stores, and the ensuing frenzy suggests a corrective. The genius of the new Chanel is this: Blazy’s brilliance can’t be reverse-engineered into a look cobbled together from other brands. #TeamChanel

I like both styles, but a more tailored silhouette suits me better. Oversized clothing doesn’t work for me, but I appreciate on others.
Haha, but I just posted my & Other Stories ‘dupes’! X
Brilliant to the point summation!

Oh, Navaz, I haven’t seen it yet! I agree that the Charvet shirt is an easy steal. xp
I have always been #teamchanel when the styling suited me. This latest iteration holds the craft of design up as a true homage to Madame Coco.
Loved Carolyn till Mathew Blazy blew in. Now it’s both. Funny about dupes because the shoes are so modern and beautiful and I don’t think they can be duped.

Respectfully, people make do with the best they can afford, including COS, Theory and other brands at lower price points. If you can afford Chanel, all power to you. But minimalism and style more broadly is not about exclusivity or a price tag – it’s putting something together that is well considered.
I agree with Jessie. The only sentence I would change is “If you can afford Chanel, and you choose to spend your money on their clothes, your choice”. And for me, real style is far different than walking into a fashion house and walking out, dressed head to toe, in their designs.
Actually, I disagree that the brilliance of the new Chanel can’t be translated into similar looks using lower priced lines. Will the pieces be constructed with the same wonderful fabrics and to the same exacting quality? Of course not. But considering that we aren’t talking about a scientific breakthrough that will change the world (maybe the closets of a very few), I think most can agree that careful consideration in choosing pieces available to more people can indeed be viewed in a positive light.
“quiet luxury”…I find it clumsy too, always knew it as a discreet luxury. And yes to minimalism, not necessarily only from Chanel.
I too, agree with Jessie.Style is not just for those with enough money to buy Chanel. In fact, the most stylish women do not depend on “labels” to express themselves. It’s quite dull to just purchase another black bag from a designer this year or next, when you can re-imagine what you already have with a scarf or an ornament. Chole Sevigny is famously stylish without having to depend on labels.
