The Belt Bag
Every so often I revisit the belt bag, but never find one that I’d wear — until now. These by The Row and Jil Sander are good-looking, and the Jil Sander looks great as a shoulder bag, too. While working on this post up popped this Gabriela Hearst knit dress (comes in black as well), and Habitually Chic just posted a roundup of the best fall sneakers — all told, a great la rentrée aka transition-to-fall outfit.

Hi! I love the tan sneaker, can you say who makes it? Thanks!
Maison Margiela (I just bought them) and they are in the Habitually Chic post.
It’s hard to believe we’re already looking at the reentry. I just bought a pair of leather sneakers for fall—and have been seeing belt bags all over the city. The structure and proportions on The Row’s bag are nice.
That dress is divine.
Curiously, belt bags appeal to me as an idea, but when I acquire one or the other (and there have been several throughout the years), I always find an excuse to not wear them. It is either the wrong outfit, the wrong occasion, or I just need a bigger bag!
Yes to the knit dress! Hands-down no to the belt bags.
I love that dress! This spring I bought it in oatmeal as part of my back to the office splurge.
Love the belt bag! And those sneakers are fabulous!
I love the idea of The Row’s belt bag. In practice, the bag flops forward (the Matches Fashion video does a good job of showing this) and I found the ties tough to navigate. I wish it had a proper buckle fastening, which I think would solve both those issues, leaving only whether or not I can actually pull off a belt bag or if it’s something I’m better off admiring on others. 🙂
I am sympathetic to the belt-bag comments here: I am not sure that I can make it work for me. Preston just owned her bonnet last winter, though, and that was more challenging than what is essentially a clutch on a strap. I’m interested to see how she works through the belt-bag options!
