On My Radar
My weekend to-do list: see the Ruth Asawa Through Line exhibition at the Whitney, read the brilliant and recently deceased Louise Glück’s Marigold and Rose followed by Tomorrow, And Tomorrow, And Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, and catch The Holdovers — filmed at Deerfield Academy and set in the ’70s, my ‘hood and era — has received excellent reviews. I love the ’70s vibe of this Goldbergh ski parka. Next trip to Paris is around the corner and I’m looking forward to seeing the Rothko retrospective and the Alex Ayed “Farewell Project” at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

Oh may have to check out the Holdovers between NCAAFB, NFL & World Series. I think Henry Taylor: B side exhibit looks fantastic too. I plan to check both out in a couple weeks when visiting. Cute parka!
I hope you enjoy Tomorrow and Tomorrow and tomorrow. My son recommended it to me as he is a tech animator for a video game company. My one friend stopped halfway because the content didn’t interest her but Preston (and anyone else picking it up) I urge you not to put it down. It is incredibly written and more about the relationship between the main characters. Their industry is secondary to the storyline.
What a great list. Ruth Asawa is a favorite and very happy to see they have one of her hanging forms – I hope you enjoy the exhibition! Your Paris exhibition list is also wonderful. I haven’t read Marigold and Rose, but it sounds intriguing and now on my list. Thank you Preston for a great post to start the weekend – I hope you all have a great one!
Tomorrow x 3 is one of my fave books of the year.
I am reading John Boyne’s the Heart’s Invisible Furies and am literally laughing myself silly. I highly recommend it!
Tomorrow x3 is astonishingly wonderful. It’s the rare story that you could begin on your next flight to Paris and finish by the time you land! It’s hard to put it down. Demon Copperhead is quite good too.
The Henry Taylor show is worth seeing before it closes. One of the few very excellent exhibitions that opened in LA first.

The watercolor persimmons just kill me they’re so beautiful. And thanks for the book recommendation – just ordered it.
Your ‘read, see and watch’ posts always come at the perfect time. I read Tomorrow earlier this year and it wasn’t my favorite. It didn’t hold my attention at the end of a long day. I think it would be better devoured in large chunks instead of short spurts. Marcheline Isabelle
Tomorrow x3 was my favorite read for 2023. I hope you enjoy it.Copperhead and Yellowface take the second and third spot.
Excited to see The Holdovers! Preppies Unite! I remember the students that had to stay over during holidays. We always felt sorry for them. They probably had a blast.
