Miu Miu: Modern Ladylike
There is so much in the Miu Miu FW24 collection that I reviewed the images a number of times before I put this post together. Mrs. Prada told WWD that this is a collection of “(c)lassic items from all moments — and you can choose the child, you can choose the lady.” I love seeing updated versions of some of my beloved Miu Miu pieces, like the floor-sweeping black coat and short jackets. Little black dresses, pearls, fur (shearling) coats, and pencil skirts with matching jackets — through Miuccia’s lens — are back in the Prada universe.
I am choosing the lady. Mrs Prada has made the single strand of pearls chic and cool again. Definitely referring to this collection for clothing and styling choices for my wardrobe. I understand these clothes and can translate them to my life.
I love that gray suit! And the bateau neck black dress…if only it didn’t have the side cutouts that I, in my 50s, have no desire to wear. I hope this signals a return to lady like dressing—I am ready! And let’s all bring out our pearls again. They are beautiful and flattering, and we needn’t cede them to the men (Timothy Chalamet et al)
This looks exciting and exactly what is lacking in most collections. Why aren’t these looks ready-to-wear staples? Short jackets with matching skirts are my favorite day-to-evening dress. I’ve never worn Miu Miu, but I think I’m about to!
