Bits & Bobs
The fashion world’s top news items — Dries Van Noten’s retirement announcement, Pierpaolo Piccioli’s impending exit from Valentino, and Gucci sales down 20% — are a trifecta of sad headlines that say a lot about the state of fashion today. Commerce, more than ever, trumps creativity. To cheer myself up, I’m going to see two exhibitions of photographs by photographers I worked with. Many of Irving Penn’s (Mr. Penn to me) pictures of his wife Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn are included in Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn Fashion Icon at MEP. And Palais Galleria has a retrospective of Paolo Roversi’s stunning photographs. I am an avid short story buff and I’m joining a book club devoted to the genre. That said, I’m eagerly awaiting the release of Amor Towles’s Table For Two available April 2. I doubt I’ll start wearing blue eyeshadow, yet the makeup in the Chanel FW24 collection is lovely and certainly eye-catching. Whole design lines have been devoted to stripes, however I have not ventured beyond a traditional mariner style in years. This navy and white A.L.C. top has my name on it. I picked up these Monoprix ballet flats to wear around the apartment and I’m going to tuck into April Vogue France. Happy weekend! xp

The apartment? Paris? Congratulations!
Rental for a month, baby steps…
The suede shoes???
Love your Bits & Bobs Preston , my favorites !!
Enjoy Paris Brooke
The news re Gucci doesn’t surprise me. Many luxury brands simply don’t measure up to their logos or price tags. Without the brand name, without a logo, would we give some of these pieces a second look?
The suede flats are a lovely color and easy on the eye!
Preston, seeing this striped henley reminds me that I wanted to tell you how much I’m loving the navy Arch 4 cashmere henley that you posted on along with the dark Frame jeans. I’ve been getting so much wear out of it. Perfect under a blazer or on its own over a t-shirt. Thank you! Hope NAP restocks this.

The headlines are sadly not that surprising. Fashion has gotten way too expensive for the quality of the items, in general. Have a great time in Paris.
Hi! What Monoprix do you go to? I can never find the the one with Women’s clothes. Have a great trip.
I went to the one at Pyramides.
Enjoy your time in Paris, Preston! I’m sure its incredible in the Spring!
